Lourdes Guàrdia

Deputy Dean of Teaching and Associate Professor at the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences at the Open University of Catalonia (UOC). She teaches courses of the Master’s degree in Education and ICT. PhD in Educational Sciences, University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). 

Researcher within the eLearn Center (E-Learning Research, Innovation and Training Centre) at UOC and member of the Edul@b Research Group. Her main areas of research are techno-pedagogical design and Learning Design, Technology Enhanced Learning, Educational Technology, Teacher Training, e-Portfolios, e-Assessment and teaching models related to the use of digital technologies in different educational contexts.

She has participated and coordinated various research and innovation projects both nationally and internationally, among them and recently; CRISS (K-12 digital competence assessment and certification), EPICA (near graduation employability skills), AMED(transforming university model to blended learning), European SLP’s for continuous professional development and lifelong learningECO4LEARN (K-12 teachers learning ecologies), eFeedSkills (technology scaffolded regulatory skills in undergraduate students, using Chatbots and Learning Analytics). 

She has been working at the UOC since 1996 with different roles: as a Director of the of Multimedia Instruccional Design Department and as Innovation Projects Coordinator in the Strategic Area of Methodology and Educational Innovation. Between years 1991 and 1996 she worked as a professor at the School of Teachers of the University of Barcelona first and at the University of Pompeu Fabra, later.

Since 2014 she is Chair of the European expert group on Curriculum development & Course design of EADTU (European Association of Distance Teaching Universities); since 2013 founder member of the European Network of ePortfolio Experts & Practitioners. She has advised over 20 years international institutions, on both Latin American and Anglo-Saxon models on the implementation of online education.
