In this regard, it is worth highlighting the more than 23,000 downloads by repository users of the book Improving Online Teaching: Practical Guide for Quality Online Education. Coordinated by Dr. Albert Sangrà—Director of the Futures of Education in the Digital Age Research Centre (UOC-FuturEd) and a researcher with the Edul@b research group—this book presents a series of proposals for improving online education and addressing future situations requiring intermittent in-person attendance. The COVID-19 pandemic has challenged higher education—and, by extension, the university as its central player. While the need to transform the university was a common topic of discussion in early 2020, that transformation is now viewed not only as more urgent but also as far more complex and essential. This book synthesizes a study based on interviews with eleven experts from five continents, offering a global perspective—geographically, experientially, and in terms of philosophy and ideology. It is a collaborative approach to a highly complex issue. The findings highlight the need to address the challenges arising from this period of transformation through a holistic perspective that views the university as a unified whole: an institution that fosters the development of the individual while also contributing to the advancement of society as a collective.
