The Edul@b group participates in the validation workshop for the European DigComp 3.0 framework in Seville

On June 17 and 18, 2025, Dr. Montse Guitert, director of the Edul@b research group at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC), participated in the DigComp 3.0 Validation Workshop, held in Seville and organized by the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission.

This in-person, invitation-only workshop brought together a broad international representation of experts, policymakers, and other key stakeholders linked to the field of digital skills. The main objective of the meeting was to validate and reach a consensus on the preliminary version of the new European digital skills framework for citizens: DigComp 3.0.

During the two days, the new features and lines of evolution compared to the previous version, DigComp 2.2, published in April 2022, were presented. Discussions focused on the incorporation of emerging technologies, such as generative artificial intelligence, and the need to better describe the relationship between skill levels and outcomes. Strategies have also been explored to facilitate the practical application of the framework in educational, professional, and social contexts.

Edul@b’s participation in this validation process is part of the group’s strategic vision regarding research and knowledge transfer in the field of digital education, as well as its active involvement in the development of evidence-based European educational policies.
