Final Conference of the RESCCUE Project at Castell de Cornellà, Barcelona

On May 29th, we experienced a day full of emotions with all our colleagues from the REcover Spaces for Traumatized Children in Community Settings Post COVID-19 (RESCCUE) project at the closing day of the project at Castell de Cornellà, Barcelona. Thanks to RESCCUE, safe spaces have been recovered and rescued to prevent and detect domestic and online violence against children and adolescents. The welcoming ceremony was given by Montse Dolz (Hospital Sant Joan de Déu Barcelona) and Emilia Briones (Ajuntament de Cornellà de Llobregat).

Next, Montse Guitert and Delia Español Fernández (Edulab Research Group, Universitat Oberta de Catalunya) and Adrià Ruiz (Ajuntament de Cornellà de Llobregat) presented the co-creation and implementation process of the Game Against Cyberviolence “Las Aventuras RESCCUE.” This game promotes the prevention, detection, and action against cyberviolence and allows the educational community to influence the areas of mental health and cyberviolence. At the same time, it seeks safe spaces to discuss self-esteem, reconnection, and attitudes toward various situations, whether potential or experienced through screens.

The day continued with reflections and data on abuse and exposure to domestic violence with Noemí Pereda (GReVIA, Universitat de Barcelona) and Mar Álvarez (CSMIJ, Ajuntament de Cornellà de Llobregat). We also explored the transferability of safe spaces based on the progress of the project in Italy with Paola De Rose, Veronica Sperandini, and Stefania Falvo (Ospedale Pediatrico Bambino Gesù).

Finally, there was an emotional closing ceremony and a look toward the future with Fernando Lacasa Saludas (Hospital Sant Joan de Déu Barcelona) and Joana Piñero (Ajuntament de Cornellà de Llobregat). It is worth noting that during the project, 144 workshops were delivered to 2,142 students. In addition, 196 professionals, 44 patients, and 92 family members participated.
