Edul@b participates in the initial ceremony of the Erasmus + project AMED held in Maldives

The researchers from the Edul@b research group Marcelo Maina, Nati Cabrera and Lourdes Guàrdia have participated in the official ceremony that marked the beginning of the Erasmus + project AMED. The ceremony took place in the Maldives National University on March 26.

The event was also attended by national media, deans and university staff, all project partner representatives, the University of Zagreb, the Croatian Academic and Research Network (CARNET), and the Open University of Catalonia (UOC) represented by the researchers of Edul@b.

The AMED Project

The Erasmus + Project AMED (Advancing higher education in Maldives through E- learning Development) started with its activities in January 2019 and will be completed by January 2022.

The project aims to support the modernization, accessibility and internationalization of higher education in Maldives, by improving the level of competencies and skills of university teachers by developing new and innovative education programme in the field of e-learning.

And the specific objectives are:

  • Co-creation and piloting of a new study programme for professional development focusing on the use of ICT in education.
  • Establishing institutional framework for e-learning at the Maldives National University by training of staff, improving IT infrastructure and (re)organization of departments to provide support to e-learning.
  • Promotion of new forms of teaching and learning in Maldives, notably strategic use of open and flexible learning, lifelong learning, virtual mobility, open educational resources and better exploitation of the ICT potential by raising awareness, supporting leadership, engaging early adopters and developing a community of practice
