Estel Paloma Cisa, the first PhD in Education and ICT with Edul@b, within the Industrial Doctorates Plan

On May 6th, Estel Paloma Cisa, a professor at the Escola Pia of Mataró and Associate Professor at TecnoCampus (a center affiliated with Universitat Pompeu Fabra), presented her thesis, entitled “Model for the Evaluation of the Development of Entrepreneurial Competence to Promote Sustainability in Compulsory and Post-Compulsory Education,” at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya.
The research analyzes how educational centers can implement a model for integrating and assessing entrepreneurial competencies across the curriculum, using a highly innovative methodological approach that empowers students to create a more sustainable society. Dr. Lourdes Guàrdia (Edul@b, Universitat Oberta de Catalunya) and Dr. Màrian Buil-Fabregà (TecnoCampus, Universitat Pompeu Fabra) were the supervisors of this thesis.
This is the first thesis defended within the Edul@b group within the framework of the Generalitat de Catalunya’s public initiative called the Industrial Doctorates Plan (Pla de Doctorats Industrials), as well as the first thesis under this plan within the framework of the UOC’s Education and ICT doctoral program. This plan promotes strategic research projects of a company or institution, developed in collaboration with a Catalan university or research center, and which become the subject of a doctoral thesis. This allows a doctoral student to acquire the training necessary to launch a research career in a dual environment: business and academia.
The doctoral thesis evaluation committee was formed by Professors of Educational Technology Linda Castañeda (Universidad de Murcia) and Mercè Gisbert (Universitat Rovira i Virgili), and by Associate Professor Marcelo Maina (Edul@b, Universitat Oberta de Catalunya).
