Edul@b attends the congress ITworldEDU 8
On 7 and 8 of March, the researchers Teresa Romeu, Lourdes Guàrdia and Montse Guitert of the Edul@b group attended the congress ITworldEdu 8 held at the Palau de Congressos of Barcelona.
The ITworldEdu focuses on the educational technology sector and aims to share technological developments, innovative educational experiences and ICT applications in teaching. It’s a space that intended to serve as a meeting point between teachers and companies of the ICT sector.
In its eighth edition, the congress focused much of its interest in the field of digital competences, both from the perspective of teachers and students. It was especially highlighted the new and stimulating educational experiences that are enabled by technological innovations, such as computer programming, apps and virtual experiences.
This year, the ITworldEdu congress was attended by Francesc Pedró, former vice rector of educational research and innovation at the UOC, which gave the inaugural conference. In his talk, Francesc noted that technology is a key element in relation to communication and on-line teaching collaboration and that, therefore, technological innovations can be the perfect educational storm.
It was also encouraged the use of ICT in the classroom, because while most of the teachers perceive the use of technologies as positive in their teaching, less than 40% of teachers use ICT in the classroom. However, in therms of innovation, it would be useful to know and study in detail the indicators to see if a teacher is really innovating and in what sense is being done.
