Jordi Conesa

PhD in Computer Science from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia; Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Girona.

He is a researcher and professor at the Open University of Catalonia (UOC), specializing in the use of semantics and analytics to improve digital learning systems. His first work focused on the generation of conceptual schemas from large ontologies. Since joining the UOC in 2007, he has adapted his research to the field of e-learning, contributing to important European and national projects such as ALICE, GenPort and ColMOOC.

His work combines technology and education, with the aim of creating smarter and more adaptive learning environments. He has supervised several doctoral theses, published more than 90 research articles and co-edited several academic books. He is also a reviewer and co-chair of international conferences in this field.

He holds accreditations from the Agency for University Quality of Catalonia (AQU) and has carried out research stays at Georgia State University, IN3 and the UOC’s eLearn Center.

He has received the Jaume Vicens Vives 2023 Award from the Generalitat, in the collective category, for a project that deals with the Present@ project, which deals with the inclusion and normalization of videos at the UOC to promote learning and teaching.
